Of ancient origin, Milazzo, was founded by the people "Zancle" in 716 BC under the name of Mylai. It consists of two parts: one sits on a headland, the other runs along the seashore. Friendly tourist city and city of art with ancient Sicilian origins.

The proximity to the Aeolian Islands and the intense activity of the port, have allowed economic development characterized by environment-related production activities such as agritourism and florivivaismo.
Milazzo is rich in works of art of great artistic value, but the castle is certainly the most important monument of the city with its 12,000 sq m extension. The first fortifications of the castle date from the Neolithic period and were expanded with the arrival of the first Greek settlers in the 8th - 7th century BC but it was the Arabs who, after the 843, made so that the first nucleus of the castle came to life.
A must-visit is the mastio, in its developmental stages and must admire the splendid panorama from the stands which collect all the beauty of the Aeolian islands and the two seas of the Tyrrhenian coast.
