Placed between the sea and Mount Erice, the ancient Drepanon, born around its port as originally Sican village, then as a small fortified city where, for centuries, fishermen, traders, artisans of different populations, such as the Elimi, lived.
The city has undergone many changes over the centuries, still retaining its characteristic sickle shape.

To visit the city of Trapani is like stepping back in different historical periods. Each corner is characterized by monuments, churches, palaces, telling the life of the city in different centuries. The most important part of Trapani continues to be represented by the port in the center. The port of Trapani has undergone several changes, still at work, ongoing renovation of the docks and adjustment. The tip of the city is characterized by Ligny Tower, now home of the Museum of Prehistory. To get there walk along a narrow street, surrounded on both sides by the sea of intense blue, populated by many bathers in summer. Nearby is the fishing port, with boats of fishermen who continue to work to renew a tradition handed down for centuries from father to son. In the fishing port you can admire the Villino Nasi cottage, recently restored to the enjoyment of the community and former Lazzaretto, today houses the local branch of the Italian Naval League. Nearby, in the sea, the Colombaia, a symbol of the city of Trapani.
Entering into the historic center, you can admire the ancient buildings, monuments, churches of different eras. The city is characterized by the presence of four watchtowers, the Tower Old, the Tower of the Land Castle, Torre Pali and Dark Gate Tower or Clock Tower.
